Proactive Prevention Plan

We protect your Port St. Lucie home by proactively preventing termite infestations. Before these destructive pests can even settle in your home, our trained technicians will treat the soil around the house, as well as around bath traps, pipe penetrations, and other termite-friendly areas.

Turner Pest Control provides you with complete protection—going far beyond the spot treatments that many pest control companies offer.

Port St. Lucie Termite Extermination

Our treatments include:

  • Treating foundation cracks, as small as 1/32 of an inch; that’s because, yes, termites can fit through that tiny of an opening
  • Plumbing entry points; when builders pour concrete, they often use wood forms and then leave them behind, creating ideal nesting sites and feeding spots
  • Above-slab patios and room additions, where soil levels may be higher than desirable, which in effect creates entry ramps for termites into your home
  • Anywhere termites can hide out

Because we want to eradicate termites and their colonies before they have a chance to become entrenched in your home, we use soil treatments, not bait systems. Soil treatments get rid of these nasty pests ten times more quickly than baiting techniques. And, when it comes to termite infestations, you want safe, fast solutions.

Common Types of Termites in Port St. Lucie

There may be nearly 3,000 different kinds of termites, with almost 200 varieties considered to be pests. A good number of these types reside in Florida, including these three kinds:

  • Formosan termites: These are the most aggressive termite species in the United States, and they’re prevalent in Florida.
  • Eastern subterranean termites: The good news is that this type is less destructive than the Formosan variety. The troublesome news is that they’re so widespread that they in fact cause more damage than their Formosan cousins.
  • Drywood termites: These nasty pests don’t need much moisture or soil to survive and they frequently damage hardwood floors.

Termites live in colonies, with queens continually producing eggs during a lifespan that can be 50 years long. So, if you see a few termites, there are plenty more hovering nearby.

Professional Termite Extermination Services in Port St. Lucie, FL

You might see DIY products for sale but it’s not a good ideal to try to exterminate termite infestations yourself. Instead, that’s the time to call in professional pest control technicians who use the most effective products and equipment, applying treatments appropriately.

Fortunately the termite control experts at Turner Pest Control know how to identify the termite infestation types you have. Our trained technicians then use a strategic combination of methods to eradicate them.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Don’t see your question answered? Get in touch today!

Why are there so many mosquitoes in Fort Myers?

There are several species of termites in our area. These small, soft-bodied insects live in large colonies and feed on wood, including timber and the wood in structures. The three major types are subterranean, drywood, and dampwood. As their names imply, subterranean termites usually live in soil; drywood termites prefer very dry wood; and dampwood termites prefer wet wood, such as in forested areas.

What specific techniques can help to prevent termites in my house?

Turner Pest Control does not offer a warranty on drywood termites, but we can spot-treat them. If you have a severe drywood termite problem, we will refer you to drywood termite treatment professionals.

How do I know if I have termite damage?

The presence of termites alone is not a definitive indicator of whether damage has been done. Determining if your home has been damaged requires an inspection. If you suspect you have termites, Turner Pest Control offers a free inspection and estimate.

Do I have termites or flying ants in my Port St. Lucie home?

It’s easy to mistake termites for flying ants. Both have four wings, but termite wings are uniform in size while flying ants have larger wings in the front. Generally, termites range from ¼ to ½ an inch long and are pale in color.

Each species has its own swarming season, but in general, spring is primetime for termites. Formosan subterranean termites, the most destructive type,  are seen in spring and swarm at night. Contact us immediately if you notice swarming termites.

How much property damage can termites do?

Termites do billions of dollars’ worth of damage in the U.S. every year. They eat nonstop, around the clock, so large populations can quickly damage wood and threaten the integrity of your home’s structure. The good news is that our comprehensive Port St. Lucie termite extermination services get rid of existing colonies and prevent their return.

Is termite protection worth it in Naples?

The key to termite prevention is reducing or getting rid of the moisture that termites need. Take steps to reduce the humidity levels in your crawl space and attic; divert water away from your home’s foundations with gutters; and fix leaks coming from pipes, faucets, and your outdoor AC unit. You should also get rid of roots or tree trunks, wood stakes, or old form boards that are close to your home. Regularly inspect your home’s foundations for termite damage signs.

Can I do my own termite control?

This is one area of pest control that Port St. Lucie homeowners should not attempt on their own. Licensed pest control professionals have the experience, extensive training, technology and products required to effectively control termites populations and protect your home.

Does Turner do WDO reports in Port St. Lucie?

We do not do WDOs. These are typically done by home inspectors in the Port St. Lucie area.
