Turner Pest Control technician Shawn Svehla named the 2013 Termite Technician of the Year by PCT Magazine. Svehla was selected from a pool of nominations from pest control companies across the U.S. The selection criteria included: commitment to the industry; excellence in safety, customer relations and leadership skills; and community service. Svehla will be honored at special ceremony in Washington D.C. on March 10, 2014.
Svehla has more than 13 years of industry experience with Turner Pest Control. He is proud to be a Certified Pest Control Operator (CPO) and Registered WDO Inspector in Florida. Prior to Turner Pest Control, Svehla spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a member of the U.S. Air Force Security Police. Both in his military career and his career with Turner Pest Control, Svehla is dedicated, highly focused and professional (not to mention humble).
“We are very proud of Shawn’s accomplishments,” said Mark Slater, CEO of Turner Pest Control. “Shawn has single handedly pretreated millions of square feet of new construction in Jacksonville, Fla. for Turner Pest Control. He is an integral part of the Turner Team and the type of an employee that you would like to clone.”
Svehla lives in Hilliard, Fla. and serves his community while working and on his own time. In his role as Termite Technician, he recently helped HabiJax build 25 houses in only six days for deserving families in the community. Svehla enjoys running in charity races with his son. At this year’s Gate River Run, Svehla finished in top 3 percent out of more than 17,000 runners. He teaches religious education, coaches youth flag football and is a volunteer basketball coach through Upward Sports, a Christian sports league for youth.
Svehla has been honored with many company awards over the years. He has been named MVP by his peers and he has earned Technician of the Month for superior performance numerous times.
